Miners and operators held separate conventions in Pittsburg to set the 15 percent mining rate amid likely continued disputes. Miners favored a 49 cent per ton base and a 10 cent differential for those signing uniformity deals, while operators ignored the new mining law. Both groups called for an interstate meeting in Columbus, Ohio, next month to fix rates across states.
A conference of Fall River cotton manufacturers and the employer on the wage question heard three propositions from labor unions seeking to delay wage cuts. Each delegate commented. Manufacturers will consider the proposals and reply in a day or two.

Fire partially destroyed the Crook Horner & Co. establishment in Baltimore, a large supplier of plumbers machinists and millers goods. The blaze caused an estimated loss of about 150000 dollars to stock and building.
In Philadelphia on December 21 a collision on the Rexburg Wissahickon and Manayunk electric railroad near the city outskirts left one person probably fatally hurt and six others injured to varying degrees.

In Farco North Dakota J A Hanway an agent for stockholders in the defunct North Dakota National Bank was arrested charged with misappropriating 10000 dollars. The case is before Judge Amidon with an audit and a grand jury hearing waived and bond set at 5000 dollars.
Judge Bailey freed James O'Donnell after the state failed to prepare for trial in the murder of his wife. Prosecutor Farr admitted the delay. after days of waiting for witnesses, the court discharged him, with a likely re arrest anticipated.
Lincoln December 21 The state by the attorney general filed civil suit against ex-Treasurer Bartley and his bondsmen for 835000 alleging embezzlement from the public school fund during his first two years in office. This suit is one of several similar actions.
