Chicago crowds attended the First ward ball at the Coliseum under Aldermen John Coughlin and Michael Keane. A photographer was assaulted and his camera smashed as police guarded the event amid prior bomb incident fears. Ticket receipts approached $25,000 to fund the ward's coming alderman election.
In Aitkin Minnesota on December 15 William Murtz was accidentally killed by his brother in law John Richter while deer hunting at Pine Knoll. The incident occurred when Murtz was mistaken for a deer during the hunt.
A good house and out-building with three lots is offered by painter J. L. Cooley. The property is for sale at once at 65 Seventh Street near Lindale. Interested buyers are urged to act quickly.
The County Board of Mower County invites sealed bids by January 2 1909 for county physician and surgery services. Work covers medical care for paupers at the Poor Farm hospital and other county facilities within Austin Lyle Marshall Nevada Windom Rose Creek Lansing. Contract awarded to the successful bidder. Dated December 15 1909. George Robertson Auditor and Clerk.
Probate Court of Mower County orders all creditors to file claims against the estate of Arthur Cole, deceased. Ida M. Cole is named executrix. Claims must be presented by March 15, 1909, at 10 a.m. in Austin. Notice to be published weekly for three weeks in the Austin Daily Herald.
