Nantucket lightship foundering while in tow near Nantucket
The Nantucket south shoal lightship foundered while in tow of the lighthouse tender Azalea eighteen miles west of its station. All crew members were rescued by the Azalea, which brought them to New Bedford. The sinking followed a leak earlier on Sunday as the lightship rolled in heavy swells. The Azalea pursued the tow after a call for aid and later reached New Bedford with the rescued crew. In a separate dispatch from London, the Daily News notes the Sultan has accepted the plan for financial control of Macedonia.
