Group Defers Action on Jail Subsidy
ST PAUL AP A state senate subcommittee postponed a proposal to subsidize construction and operation of jails and juvenile detention facilities. Keve said the idea would be studied further for the 1969 Legislature with a potential 50 percent state share, and noted regional facilities may attract inmates from distant cities. The panel also delayed a bill to require jailers on duty at all times in city and county lockups.
