Hormel & Co announces annual sales hit a record 441.6 million dollars for the year ended Oct 30 1965 up 7.2 percent from 1964 while net earnings fell to 4.351 million dollars from 5.725 million. Per share 3.64 versus 4.79.
The Gemini 7 mission sails through day three of its two week voyage as James Lovell sheds his suit in a space striptease and Frank Borman pilots in comfort. Ground teams push toward the planned Gemini 6 rendezvous while a Soviet moon-capable mission also headlines space activity.
Eastern Airlines pilot Charles J. White perished aiding evacuees after colliding midair with a Trans World Airlines jet two miles above Westchester County. Three others died and 50 injured as the planes, carrying 112 people, crash landed near Kennedy Airport. Capt. Thomas H. Carroll of the TWA crew guided the jet to a safe landing, while investigators probe the crash cause.

The Vatican announced the excommunications of St Pope Leo IX and Patriarch Michael Caerularius would be annulled in ceremonies in St Peter’s Basilica and Istanbul.
