Minnesota Governor Orville Freeman told the New York Security Analysis Assn that New York Minnesota is in a dynamic transition stage ripe for industrial expansion. He cited a planned 1.5 billion dollar investment in three Minnesota taconite plants and a 55 million dollar annual payroll.
A Beechcraft Bonanza with three aboard disappeared on a charter flight from Broken Bow Nebraska to Rapid City South Dakota. Civil Air Patrol Lt Col Elton Patterson said the craft may have landed in darkness despite light snowfall and wide ranch land separating homes. The pilot is named Dowlig and passenger names were not yet available.
Willard Allen a 27 year old construction worker for Johnson Road Construction Co was killed when a drain pipe broke free from a mechanical loader striking him in the chest. He died while being transported to a hospital in La Crosse Wisconsin.

At the United Nations the 28 nations push a resolution to admit all 118 applicants while Nationalist China weighs a veto on Outer Mongolia. Russia warns it will veto 13 non Communist bids if the five Communist candidates fail to pass, as China makes its first appearance in the committee debate.
In Macon Missouri a 5-year-old boy, Ralph Brammer, escaped serious harm when icy pavement sent him sliding ahead of a car’s front wheel for about 100 feet after being knocked down. The driver, unaware at impact, heard shouts and avoided a worse outcome.

Police say Karl Siegfried Kast a 39 year old German born miner killed two surgeons and wounded a third in adjoining offices before blowing himself up with a bomb. He had sought a certificate for an imaginary back ailment and had sent threatening letters prior to the attack.
