Eleven Fliers Freed By Red China Head Home This Weekend

Eleven airmen including Col. John Knox Arnold are freed from Communist captivity after 32 months. They will depart this week aboard two C54 transports from Tokyo via Midway and Hawaii to Travis Air Force Base California as military officials announced the homeward plan.

Polio outbreaks spark U S health action in Wisconsin and Midwest

Wisconsin polio cases have risen sharply in 1955 while ten Midwest states show a 26 percent drop from January through July. The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis reports ongoing Wisconsin outbreaks and rapid deployment of gamma globulin and iron lungs to Appleton and West Allis.

Red Haters Reinforced at Inchon

Twelve hundred Red-hating Korean railway workers arrived at Inchon from Seoul to reinforce about 300 demonstrators besieging the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission billets on Wolmi. About 700 U.S. soldiers guard the island as clashes injure nine Koreans and twenty-two Americans since riots began.

Drugstore Bandit Nabbed In Downtown Twin Cities Case

Police capture 30 year old Martin J. Wallace after a drugstore holdup near 100 S Ninth and a cafe robbery totaling 19 000 dollars. Eleanor Turbitt, cafe cashier, initially identified him but later recanted noting the bandit’s pencil mustache hat and coat. Wallace denies involvement and says he was marked. He was spotted after a radio description led officers to arrest him near the drugstore.

Red Chinese Again Postpone Geneva Session

Geneva reports that a Wednesday meeting between U S and Communist China ambassadors was postponed to Thursday at Red China’s request. Wang Ping nan provided no reason for the 24 hour delay.

Bemidji Training Squadrons Endure Rough Two Weeks

The 665th fighter squadron stationed from NAS Anacostia Washington D C endures a rough two week Bemidji training period. Incidents include a water loop by an Albatross on Lake Superior near Duluth, a Corsair ditching on Lake Winnibigoshish, and a beechcraft overshoot into the woods. No injuries reported and pilots from the Washington area were involved.

Mower County Fair Opens with Crane Pavilion Ready

The 73rd annual Mower County Fair opens at 5 p.m. with Crane Pavilion completed after 37 working days. Freeman Arrives for Istanbul Visit

P Government Orville Freeman of Minnesota arrived by air in Istanbul for a brief unofficial visit after a goodwill tour of Scandinavia. He plans to visit Ankara to inspect Minneapolis Moline tractor and Federal Truck assembly plants built and run by Minnesota capital. He and his wife will depart Friday for Paris, London, and home.

Baby Killed as Car Overturns on Gravel Road

Humboldt Iowa Randy Lee Ruberg 16 month old son of Mr and Mrs Francis Ruberg Humboldt was killed Monday when a car driven by his mother overturned in loose gravel on a county road near here The boy was pinned underneath the car and was dead when the mother returned with help Mrs Ruberg was unhurt and another son Rodney 4 suffered minor bruises

Train Kills Man in Duluth Suburb

Matt Blair, 46, identified as an escapee from the St. Louis County work farm, was struck and killed by a Great Northern train near Brookston in a Duluth suburb. Blair fled the farm last week while serving a term for drunkenness. no witnesses reported the accident.
