Park Rapids Man Killed in Car Crash
A Park Rapids, Minnesota man, Joe J. Safratowich, 31, died when his car overturned after leaving Highway 71 near Park Rapids. The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. and involved a single occupant. Five Youths Sentenced in Mill City Gang Disturbance
In Minneapolis municipal court five youths were sentenced for a juvenile gang disturbance near a Minneapolis home on July 21. William C. Miller of St. Louis Park received 90 days for disorderly conduct and 90 days on two assault and battery charges. Miller’s brother Lyle Miller and Merwin J. Knolls each got 90 days for disorderly conduct with parole or probation terms. William P. Fahey also drew 90 days with probation, while a sixth youth was found innocent. Bail increased to 500 dollars. counsel won a 10 day stay to appeal. Crystal Miller testified police cursed her and that William was severely beaten in hospital __ unrecognizable.

P J Holand secretary said opening day attendance reached 9 898 at the Mower County Fair, down from 11 347 in 1956. Gate charges started at 5 pm this year while last year tickets were required at 8 am and an afternoon grandstand show occurred. The record attendance was 133 425 in 1955 and 122 573 in 1956 with rain on Sunday.
