Outlaw Harry Tracy Kills Self After Desperate Chase
Spokane report details Harry Tracy cornered at Eddy ranch in Lake Creek country. After a two day pursuit by Cres ton citizens and sheriffs posse, Tracy is shot through the brain with a revolver after wounding a leg and firing on the posse from behind rocks. Sheriff Cudihee of Seattle identifies the body at inquest as Tracy.

Freight and gravel trains collide near Rhodes Iowa
A Milwaukee Road wreck two miles from Rhodes Iowa kills two engineers and eleven laborers and injures about thirty. The crash followed a misunderstood order by the work train conductor. Nine injured were later brought to Des Moines for care with Fireman William Tharp among the severely hurt.

Excursion Train Kills Two Women at Dawson Springs
An Illinois Central excursion train struck a group of five young women on a high trestle at Dawson Springs Kentucky. Two women Jeanne Smith of Paducah and Lucy Stevenson of Hickory Grove died at the scene. The remaining three jumped to escape and were fatally injured or seriously hurt. All victims had been visiting the Springs.

Noted clergyman and lawyer dies in Guthrie runaway
The Rev. John Boyle aged eighty was killed in a daytime runaway near Guthrie Oklahoma. A native of Nobleton Pennsylvania he served as Cumberland Presbyterian minister and lawyer. He was appointed Vermillion land office receiver in 1864 by Lincoln and sat on the Dakota supreme bench under Johnson. He practiced in Iowa Oklahoma and Texas.

Last Hope Gone Louis Thomas Faces Execution
Chicago August 7 Practically the last chance to escape the gallows ended as the supreme court refused a writ of supersedeas for Louis Thomas convicted of murdering Carrie Larsen on the steamer Peerless. Thomas strangled her when she resisted and disposed of the body in the river. The governor declined to intervene and the execution is set for Friday.

Oshkosh Wisconsin August 7 Samuel Burrows age twenty five a young farmer from the town of Kekimi fired on two men who stopped for water in front of his farm. He was hunted by Sheriff Potter and his posse during the day and was shot, dying shortly after.
