In St Paul on April 18 the Senate stalled as Duxbury blocked bills and Boyle refused to convene action on the Duxbury Moonan Haycraft Wels reapportionment measure until all members were seated. The Moonan amendment to limit county senatorial seats to seven passed the House 65 to 52 after adding the seven-seat limit.
Two Harbors Minn April 183 1911 marks the first ore loading from the Vermilion and Mesaba range. Zenith mine at Ely and Norman mine at Virginia began shipments, with about sixty five carloads daily planned. Both mines belong to steel corporation properties and more mines are expected to start soon.

They noted Montana sheep industry investment at 45 million dollars, about 8,500 workers, and urged Congress to shield the home wool market while opposing the Canadian reciprocity treaty as anti consumer.
Carter H. Harrison was sworn in as Chicago mayor for the fifth time. The ceremony was subdued with a crowded council chamber of friends. Fourteen new aldermen were sworn in, thirteen Democrats, creating a council of forty two Democrats and twenty eight Republicans.
