Democratic members of the Senate steering committee were announced with Martin of Virginia as chairman and eight others from Texas North Carolina Arkansas Alabama Florida Mississippi Indiana and Nebraska. Federal grand jury charges the Pennsylva nia Railroad and the Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad with criminal violations for failing to observe tariffs filed with the ICC and for unlawfully granting demurrage concessions. Ten counts on each charge, up to 400000 in fines per corporation. Offenses alleged in the past three years involve billets shipments from Youngstown to Carnegie Steel and ore shipments from Cleveland and Ashtabula to Pittsburgh with extended detentions and unpaid demurrage.
Isaac Harris and Max Blanck, owners of the Triangle Waist Co, indicted for manslaughter in the wake of the March 25 Washington Place fire. Four charges allege first and second degree manslaughter over 145 deaths, including Rosie Grasso aged sixteen and Margaret Schwartz aged twenty two. Bail set at 25000. pleas entered and not guilty.
The U S circuit court of appeals reversed a 232240 dollar judgment against United Hatters North America in a case brought by Loewe and Co of Danbury Conn A Parker says the decision blasts the Anti Boycott association and helps labor interests noting the association funded the litigation and chose the defendants while the suit served their benefit
Kansas City reports Dr. B. Clark Hyde, condemned for the murder of millionaire Colonel Thomas H. Swope, has been granted a new trial by Missouri Supreme Court sitting in Jefferson City. Hyde, who has spent about a year in the county jail, was sentenced July 5, 1910, to life imprisonment after a trial that his lawyers claimed contained 255 errors.
Francisco Madero Sr announces he will reenter Mexico in a private railcar provided by Finance Minister Limantour to urge his son the provisional president to lay down arms. He reports protection en route and will await Limantour's arrival before moving forward.
