State to Reconsider Polio Vaccination Participation

ST. PAUL The State Board of Health will reexamine its stance on Minnesota joining mass polio vaccinations. Dr. Albert J. Chesley said the board will decide whether to wait and see or join the tests, with a possible program start soon if they vote to participate. An advisory committee had suggested waiting to evaluate early test results elsewhere.

Gems Found in Tin Can From Hohenzollern Loot

Police in Stuttgart report diamonds from the stolen Hohenzollern crown jewels were found in a tin can buried under an oak near Bad Homburg. Ex-convict Paul Falk admitted the July theft from Hohenzollern Castle and led investigators to the cache. The loot included snuff boxes once owned by Frederick the Great and a table set given by Queen Victoria to Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Bike Rider Saves Dog at Six Dies in Clara City

Bradley Heins six year old son of Mr and Mrs Carl Heins Clara City jammed on his brake to avoid a dog entering the path of his bike Tuesday evening the quick stop toppled him to the pavement. He died Wednesday from a blood clot caused by the fall. He is survived by a brother or sister and his parents.

Joseph Tumulty, longtime secretary to President Woodrow Wilson, died Thursday at his home in Olney Maryland. The 74 year old lawyer had served eight years in the White House and two years in the New Jersey governor’s office before practicing law in Washington.
