In Minneapolis on April 1, Joseph P. Havel shot his wife in the Washington avenue boarding house killing her instantly, then shot at their daughter Rose, then killed himself. Police had warned him to leave his wife alone as the couple lived apart.
A mob of about 1000 lynched Jim Williams, a colored man, near Colbert on a Saturday afternoon after a sexual assault accusation by Jillie Mizener. Deputies warned but the mob carried out the hanging from an oil derrick and shot the body. Mizener identified Williams in the scene.
In Boston a Garment Workers union meeting reports 1,400 of 2,100 strikers returned to work under a new agreement after the strike began last Monday. Firms refusing to sign vow to continue fighting for the open shop.

In Pittsburg an unknown man was killed after being struck by a car on Grant boulevard. Officers pursued the fleeing vehicle for two miles before arresting driver Touls Reed who claimed three men were on the boulevard and one ran into the machine while confused after the impact.

Mrs. E. B. Loveland niece of the late Collis P. Huntington and beneficiary under his will was killed instantly in Oneonta New York while driving a newly delivered car. In turning on Chestnut street she pressed full power and the vehicle vaulted a stone wall over a twenty foot embankment. She was thrown to the ground and suffered a broken foot. Her daughter Mrs. J R Bickford of Boston escaped with minor bruises.
Youngstown on April 1 reports an attempted wreck of the Pittsburg flyer between Cleveland and Pittsboro was thwarted when a shifting engine crew removed a telephone pole placed across the rails. The fast train then sped past at fifty miles an hour seventeen minutes later as detectives investigate potential links to earlier derailments near Pittsburg.
