Dr. M. D. Combs Sr., 67, a San Marcos native and pioneer Central Texas dentist, died Tuesday in an Austin hospital after a stroke. He opened his office in 1905 and practiced until two weeks before his death. services set for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church. He was active in civic and church work and survived by his widow, three children, siblings, and a host of relatives.

Postal Pay Increases Approved By House For Employees

Dr J N R Score president of Southwestern University received the last rites of the Methodist Church before about 1500 students townspeople and friends. The service included burial offices read by bishops and pastors and followed ground breaking for Lois Craddock Perkins Chapel. Governor Shivers sent condolence noting Score’s work for the State University of Texas for Negroes. The body was sent to San Antonio for cremation.
