Loan Jump Not Inflationary Yet

The head of the American Bankers Association, F. Raymond Peterson, said the recent surge in bank lending is not yet inflationary. He cautioned a further rise could threaten inflation but did not specify how much loans must grow. The latest weekly loans totaled 15.33 billion dollars, up from 14.93 billion the previous week and 13.17 billion a year earlier.

Pauline Marino a 12 year old Bertram girl was admitted to Brackenridge Hospital as a polio patient Saturday afternoon. She was diagnosed as a polio victim Saturday and listed in good condition Sunday by the hospital office.

US School Costs Rise Sharply Since 1940

The US Chamber of Commerce reports public school cost per pupil climbed from 88 dollars in 1940 to 206 in 1949, a 134 percent rise. Real investment per pupil grew about 37 percent when adjusted for living costs, while national income outpaced school spending.

Train Kills Painter Near San Marcos

A W year old San Marcos man Pablo Guana died after being struck by a northbound Missouri Pacific train. His dismembered body was found on a railroad right of way near San Marcos Saturday night. Three Day Dedication of Hillel Building in Austin

Frost Hits Great Lakes as Texas Stays Mild
