Secretary of State Marshall said the government is studying proper steps to assist China amid the current political crisis. He indicated Washington would act only with careful consideration of what can be effectively helpful.
U S Secretary of State James F Marshall spoke at a news conference after Ambassador Wellington Koo visited the White House seeking American moral and material aid for China He avoided comment on remaining as secretary of state and outlined US stance on German rearmament and Ruhr controls He also noted protests to Egypt over seizure of the Flying Trader and urged UN unity on Berlin and other world issues
The Gilmer Aiken Committee urged a December special session to push its Texas school system reforms before the regular session opens January 11. Governor Beauford Jester weighed the call as Lt. Gov. Allan Shivers and Speaker W O Reed also sought immediate action. Senator Aikin opposed delaying Christmas, while the committee pressed for a dedicated education session.
Contestants in a long court battle over a college building constitutional amendment asked the Third Court of Civil Appeals to certify two questions for Supreme Court review. The court denied rehearing, leaving an option for a mandamus to force certification, with 15 days to seek Supreme Court permission.

About 4 000 fans gathered Wednesday night at Freshman Field for the traditional pre Thanksgiving bonfire. The party traced a route from Carothers Dormitory to the Co Op to Gregory Gym and back to Freshman Field led by Blair Cherry and coaches. Police, cheerleaders, Silver Spurs, Cowboys and the Longhorn Band guided the parade with torchbearers lighting Guadalupe Street and singing the Aggie War Hymn and Texas Fight before the crowd at Gregory Gym.
