Fugitive Nelson Held in Austin After Florida Escape

James Ben Nelson alias John Robert Nelson, a 36 year old fugitive from Florida, was arrested by Austin city detectives and FBI agents after living in the city for at least a couple of months. He had been sentenced to 20 years for assault with intent to rape in 1945, escaped from a Florida road camp in 1950, and is being held for Florida authorities. Police said he admitted his identity and appeared surprised at being traced. The arresting officers were H. H. Kulenberg, B. H. Rosen and Frank Monk.
