Oilman Glenn McCarthy officially opened the Shamrock Hotel in Houston on St Patrick’s Day with Pat O’Brien and Dorothy Lamour present. The $20 million 18 story venue featured a formal ribbon cutting, a star studded reception, and the world premiere of McCarthy’s film The Green Promise. Police controlled crowds as floodlights lit the scene and orchids adorned the lobby prior to a 7 pm program.
