Prairie Fires Ravage Texas Panhandle Ranch Lands
Four prairie fires swept across the Texas Panhandle Monday night burning more than 250 sections of ranch and wheat land. Two firefighters were badly burned near Dumas while winds and dust hampered efforts to control flames spreading from city dumps toward the Canadian River. About 86 families were evacuated from the Texoma Natural Gas Co. plant area as fires threatened gas lines, wells, and large grazing lands along State Highway 152.
