Daniel denies Texas secession claim on tidelands
Texas Attorney General Price Daniel rejected Louisiana Lt. Gov William Dodd's assertion that Texas lost its tidelands rights after the Civil War. Daniel argued Texas never seceded and that union restoration was nullified by Supreme Court rulings. He urged Dodd to review the war, and noted Congress heard both sides on tidelands with an administration bill debated.
