Philadelphia June 11 The mild mannered chemist Harry Gold faces a Monday hearing in US District Court Judge James P. McGranery as the government seeks to move him to Brooklyn for wartime espionage charges. A source says Gold might surprise with a plea of guilty but that is unlikely without US attorney approval. Indicted by a Brooklyn grand jury, Gold is accused of delivering atomic bomb secrets to Russia as an intermediary identified by Klaus Fuchs.

A well near Monahans Texas blew out Saturday sending flames 600 feet high and black smoke. Geologist Jack Morris Bristow 26 of Monahans died four hours after being burned while near the site. The Pan American No 1 Holley well is 26 miles northeast of the town and attempts to control the blaze were underway. Bristow, a UT graduate, is survived by his widow Fern and a six month old daughter.
