Austin City Council rejects cut in summer water rates

City Manager Guston Morgan convinced the council no reduced summer rates would be granted. Missing U235 Found Buried in Waste Box at Argonne

Tyson Funeral Scheduled Today

Tom L. Tyson a 44 year old attorney and leader in Texas Democratic and Baptist circles died of a heart attack at 7 40 am at his Corsicana home. Funeral services set for 10 am Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr Jared L Cartlidge in charge. Tyson was a dynamic organizer and foe of Texas Regular forces who supported Roosevelt and Truman. He served on multiple boards including Mary Hardin Baylor College and Buckners Orphans Home.

ABILENE June 2 A 53 year old Mrs. E C Jackson died of a heart attack in a rocking chair at her husband’s bedside after a three day vigil. Her son N L Jackson said she refused to leave her dying husband. Private Talmadge H Jackson, killed in action in Europe in 1944, has awaited burial here since April 28.

A naval helicopter rescued flight instructor B. F. McGinnis after his TBM Avenger crash landed on Padre Island near Corpus Christi. McGinnis, of Big Falls Virginia, was uninjured and blamed engine trouble for the trainer crash at Cabaniss Field.
