Water Rate Cut Ruled Out for Austin This Summer
Austin residents will pay regular rates for water this summer with no reductions for June through August. Utilities director Walter E Seaholm cited an under construction 30 inch West Austin line not ready until Aug 1 and limited capacity to justify not lowering rates. He warned that higher consumption on peak demand would cause lower pressure in some areas. Last year saw a 10 percent cut during a drought year, but no cut in 1973.

Charge Filed In Zale Case
A federal charge was filed against Forrest Van Loon Ryder in US District Court here after noon Tuesday for burglary of the Zale Jewelry Company in January. He allegedly carried jewelry across state lines into Florida totaling over $5 000. Ryder was arrested in St Petersburg Florida last Saturday and pleaded innocent at a hearing in Tampa. He gave multiple names and said he brought the jewelry in good faith from Oklahoma City retailers. He is 49 and bound for Mississippi to serve three years on prior burglary sentences. Total loot from the January Austin burglary is estimated near $50 000.
