Joe C. Carrington was elected president of the Austin Chamber of Commerce for 1949 at the annual membership meeting held Wednesday night at Gregory Gymnasium. Nine directors were named for two year terms, with several holdovers and retirees listed among the board. Edgar Guest, introduced by Governor Beauford H. Jester, addressed the crowd before speaking.
