Polio Cinderella Wanda Wiley Begins March of Dimes Tour
Eight year old Wanda Wiley, a polio survivor from Austin, Texas, leaves Brackenridge Hospital Tuesday to start a nationwide March of Dimes campaign tour. She will meet President Truman in Washington and travel in the Pennsylvania Railroad president’s private car to New York before opening the 1950 drive on January 16. The tour includes Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit, ending September 5, with Wanda as the campaign emblem and poster girl for the year.
