Veteran Trail Driver Dies in Houston Clinic
Waddy S. Manning aged 92 who drove cattle on the Old Chisholm Trail died in a Houston hospital. A native of Alabama he came to Texas in 1869 and at one time drove cattle from Fort Worth to Parsons. He later worked as an engineer for the old H&TC Railroad. Funeral services are set for Friday night in Houston and Saturday afternoon in Corsicana with burial in Corsicana.

Seed for Stormproof Cotton Is Available
Seed for two stormproof cotton varieties developed at the Lubbock station and grown at Texas Technological College is available to farmers. About 30 acres were planted on dry land with excellent soil. Variety 122 yielded nine bales from 20 acres, while 89A produced four bales from 10 acres using a Boone harvester. The 89A mix combines Delta Pine and Macha, while 122 combines Acala and Macha. No great losses from high winds or storms were reported.
