CHICAGO February 1 UP The president of the National Retail Grocers Association predicted a probable 10 to 15 percent decline in food prices from 1948 levels within the next year. Co C Precure, a Britton Oklahoma grocer, said corn products have bottomed and other prices will follow downward. Meat prices also show large cuts with pork down as much as 30 percent since October.

Washington Feb 1 The administration opposes a veterans pension bill estimated to cost 1.839 billion dollars in the first year with later multi billion outlays. Veterans Administrator Carl R. Gray Jr told the House veterans committee the plan would extend a 60 dollar monthly pension at age 60 to veterans of the last two wars plus disability payments.
