All-Time Mail Volume Record for Christmas in Austin
Austin postmaster Bob Phinney reported an all-time Christmas mail volume, with the Austin post office handling over one million more pieces than ever before from December 1 to 24. Incoming and outgoing mail, cards, and parcels increased, and money receipts rose 18.38 percent, mostly from volume rather than rate changes.
