Scientist reports discovery of rivers of glowing gas in space
Dr. Edwin F. Carpenter of the University of Arizona described vast rivers of glowing gas linking galaxy pairs formed by long side-swiping collisions. He said filaments condense into stars as they cool, suggesting ongoing star birth and multiple galaxy collisions. Also announced were blue dwarf stars, a potentially new high-temperature stellar class, at the 117th AAAS meeting.
