Palmer Texas town founded on bravery and myth
Palmer was established on this day in 1845 between Dallas and Ennis and named for Martin Palmer, a 75 year old Sam Houston era soldier reputed to stalk Mexicans after San Jacinto. Tradition notes his vow to cut a razor strop from Santa Anna's back, while bowie knife tactics harmed Mexican troops.
