A tone of domestic humor and mild guilt pervades as they reflect on memory, finances, and expectations.
The First Baptist Dorcas Class held its annual Christmas party in the home of Mrs. Corinne Gardner at 800 West Lynn. Katheryn Herrmann won a Biblical contest led by Grace Mayne. Gifts were exchanged. Julia Smith urged full participation in the Lottie Moon offering. Refreshments served to a list of members including Gardner, Herrmann, Probst, Morgan, and Thompson.
The First Baptist Fidelis Class plans a 6:30 p.m. Friday meeting at Mrs. Herbert L. Smith’s home 1502 Wooldridge Drive. Following the business session a Christmas party will be held with a Christmas story and seasonal poems read by Mrs. C. E. Lyon.
The Pflugerville Home Demonstration Club names Mrs. Lawrence Pfluger best cook for a quick Mexican pecan candy recipe she and her mother created. The 10 minute method uses water sugar pecans caramelizing sugar and butter to form a creamy caramel candy suitable for gifts during Christmas.
Dr and Mrs Roy LeMond hosted a social hour after Austin Chapter 304 Eastern Star meeting in Scottish Rite Temple. The program featured musical selections and a Nativity pageant with cast members including Mrs James T Browning Dr W C Treadwell Howard Miller Fred A Martin Ben F McDonald Fritz Lehman and Charles Gamble. LeMond read the narration Browning directed lighting. Refreshments featured a Santa Claus centerpiece and red candles. The hall displayed small Christmas trees with gum drops and red berries.
The Voice Ensemble of the Wednesday Morning Music Club will present a 15 minute Christmas program Saturday at 10 30 p m over radio station KNOW Mrs Gordon Wilcox leader is out of town and will be replaced by Mrs Herbert who will serve as director and accompanist
Mrs. W A Crenshaw was installed as president of the Oak Hill Home Demonstration Club during a Tuesday meeting at the home of Mrs. E C Gaines. Officers named included D A Curry as vice president and A Crawford as secretary-treasurer with others filling roles.
Delta Chi and Eta Xi chapters of Epsilon Sigma Alpha plan a formal dance Friday at 6 p m in the new Boy Scout Hut at Zilker Park. The event followed a Tuesday session in the Travis County Courthouse where chairs for refreshments and decorations were named. Mrs Maurine Amis UT speech instructor spoke on addressing clubs and read four pieces. Attendees included Eta Xi members Mrs Morris Green Mrs Jess Hampton Mrs Boyd and Delta Chi members Mrs Dougherty Frances Alexander Pat Robertson Mildred Wiemker Dorothy Baker Mable Lewis Wanda Allamon Ruth Wiemker Ruth Stiba Waideen Nelson Faye Blessing Margie Knudsen Erna Wolfe Nevilee and Barbara Gresham.
The Czech Moravian Brethren Church hosts a Sunday bazaar from 3 to 7 PM at Bryker Bryker School 34th and Kerbey. Pastries cakes and country store items offered. Mexican dinner 4 30 to 7 PM 60 cents a plate. Proceeds fund the church building. Reservations call 2 6023 or 7 4367.
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority feted 18 Metz School pupils ages 10 to 12 with a party at the chapter house 2401 Pearl. Songs were sung by sorority members and crafts and arts teaching occurred on Tuesday and Thursday mornings led by Misses Ruby Joe Dabney and Marion Ellis.
