The First Methodist Church Sunday school outlines twelve Christmas events. Activities include Friendship Class dinner at 7 p m Friday, Junior High at 7 30 p m, a family party 3 30 to 5 p m Sunday, and the Francis Ashbury Class at 8 p m Tuesday.
In a kitchen emergency Mrs. E. B. Porter creates a “poor man’s fruit cake” from gingerbread mix and mincemeat. The steps include mixing, optional spices and pecans, baking at 325 to 350 degrees for about an hour, and using a broom straw to test doneness.
The Austin Lawyers Wives Club will host a tea for wives of men attending the Lawyers Institute. The event runs Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mrs A J Wirtz residence 2307 Woodlawn with Mrs A E Wood and the hostess in the receiving line. Honorees include Mrs E M Morgan Nashville Mrs Hubert W Smith New Orleans Mrs Charles L Casr Kansas City and Mrs Charles T McCormick and Mrs Clarence Morris Austin.
The Band Mothers Club of Marble Falls presents Doris Goodrich Jones and her marionettes at the high school gym Friday at 7 30 p m. This 10th year of shows includes Peter Rabbit Punch and Judy Clippo the Clown and others. Band members sell tickets this week.
Members of Xi Zeta Chapter Beta Sigma Phi met at Miss Burdette's home to outline a Christmas project. Gifts of food and clothing funded by the chapter treasury will be given to a local Austin family at the December 16 party.
The Govalle school chili supper and variety show for Thursday at 7 15 p m has been postponed to Friday December 15 at the same time. Sponsors are Boy Scout Troop 38 and Cub Pack 38 and both events will be open to the public.

The West Austin Study Club meets at 3 p m Friday at 1705 Westover Road in Mrs Edwin Hook's home. Main speaker Mrs Dorothy Lee Willcoxon will discuss Social Security.
