The Texas Employment Commission forecast that September will bring the highest level of non-farm jobs this year with about 16,200 more positions, raising total Texas non-farm employment to 2,330,800. Gains are expected in retail, professional services, construction and transport, with government cuts the only decline.

Strathaven Scotland Aug 22 Sir Harry Lauder famed for Roamin in the Gloamin and Just a Week Deoch an Doris was reported very critically ill at his Strathaven area home. The 79 year old pipe smoker has thrombosis in both legs and has been bedbound since last Monday amid long declining health. He briefly returned from retirement at World War II start. last U.S. tour was 1937.
