Austin Sets New Utility Records for Power and Water
Austin’s Electric Division reports a 24 hour power use of 704,920 kWh, surpassing 648,900 kWh set August 16 1949, with a new single hour peak of 41,200 kW. Weather and growth blamed. LCRA contracts provide 12,500 kW plus a 4,500 kW supplemental supply. Water records also set at 36,225,000 gallons Monday, rising by two million gallons Tuesday.
