Pee Wee Reese hit his 14th homer with two on in the eighth as Brooklyn beat Philadelphia 10-7 to sweep the series and seize first place by a half game. Andy Seminick also homered twice for the Phillies, Duke Snider hit his 18th for Brooklyn, and Roy Campanella left with a back injury.

Bottlers Capture City League Title
