Centex Students Join Frontier Festival Corners
Centex students from 80 Central Texas towns joined more than 2,000 Southwest Texas State College celebrants for the Frontier Festival. The two day program featured a 24 float parade a noon barbecue square dances a beauty queen contest a Judge Roy Bean Court and a rodeo with an all college entry list. Gastronomic and social events drew large crowds as visiting high school ranchers represented many localities including Giddings Nixon Lexington Llano Caldwell New Braunfels San Marcos and more with dozens of pairs listed among participants.

New Water Sports Features At Texlake Girl Scout Camp
Bertram area reports new outdoor programs for Texlake camp including water sports fishing and boating led by Austin sponsors and a Rod and Gun Club loaning equipment. Specialists and waterfront director coordinate with cooks and horseback riding to expand activities for the 1950 season. Georgetown's Army Organized Reserve Corps unit Co Battery of the 807th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, organized January 1949, maintains near full strength and 85 percent attendance. Led by Captain Wallace G. Evans, the group meets twice monthly in Williamson County Court House and trains with 105 howitzers, carbine practice, and offsite Fort Sill summer camps.
