University Junior High wins district one act contest with Little Women

In Georgetown on April 17 the district meet crowned University Junior High Austin first for Little Women. Rosebud took second with Uncle Jimmie and Georgetown third with Bishops Candlesticks. Loren Winship of Austin served as critic judge.

Blanco County Fair Dates Cut To August Fourth and Fifth

Johnson City April 17 Robert Knox newly elected president of the Chamber of Commerce announced the Blanco County Fair will be held August 4 and 5. The dates moved up two weeks to avoid conflicts with other fairs and rodeos. Sale hits 29 20 at Georgetown cattle auction

Friday’s Georgetown Community Sales Barn auction sold mostly good fat cattle with a top of 29.20 and an average near 130 per head. Numerous bidders from Georgetown and nearby towns posted prices ranging from 21 to 37.50 for calves and cows with calves, reflecting strong demand for fat cattle in the region.
