New Butane Market Upswing Predicted
Railroad Commissioner Ernest O Thompson predicts a big expansion of butane markets in Texas and beyond. He cites anti safe gas orders reversing undersupply, with supply up 100 percent and demand up 60 percent, plus new uses in rural heating and transportation. Marfa recently began city wide butane, a New Mexico firm converted 5000 tractors, and a Texas refinery switched trucks to butane. The chemical industry now uses 21 percent of all butane. He notes filling stations must serve growing truck and tractor markets, a new field for retailers.
