County fair progress and river rise reported

The county fair began yesterday with plans to attend and report on progress this week. The river started rising Saturday evening and had risen a foot by Sunday morning, continuing to rise. The Lady Pike is moving along the mail line, and pavement improvements fronting Taylor's buildings on Judiciary street are under way. The Wilmington Academy ad offers a healthy school setting with trained teachers, while local merchants promote visiting cards, property bargains, and an administrator sale notice in the companion column.
