Young Gentlemen and Ladies Literary Association formed

A city meeting approved renaming the Young Men's Literary Association to Young Gentlemen and Ladies Literary Association. The group invited all local young ladies to join and meet weekly with the young men for literary exercises. The change aims to promote social interaction and mental improvement, with officials hoping it becomes a lasting feature.

Picnic and Sports Day Near Forest Tower

A grouped excursion on a Tuesday ended with a parade of a durbegin wagon bearing baskets of provisions. The party paused at a forest shade for rest then moved to a tower four or five miles from the city for sports that lasted until nearly five o clock before returning, pleased with the recreation.
