The Dear born County Agricultural Society in Aurora on May 11 1867 set the premium list for the 16th annual fair. Officers appointed include Executive Committee Seth Pratt James Holmes J D Curtin Rezin Hees Willetts Bullington Michal Giegoldt elatin Walker Micshal J M Moody General Superintendent James Huff Tian. The fair is scheduled at the Aurora fair grounds starting Monday April 16 1867 and lasting four days.
The Dearborn horticultural group adjourned the convening with a report from the organizing committee laid over for next session. An election for permanent officers was ordered at the upcoming gathering, to be held May 18 at 2 p.m. at the same location.
A resident of the Third Ward reports a room filling blast from a stove after dark. The man suspects nearby wood left burning by a neighbor caused the explosion. Also noted are Jardine & Son installing an organ in Cincinnati and a Cincinnati Gazette account of a grand sacred concert at First Presbyterian Church.
The Baptist Church plans distribute a pastor card with service hours. June 2 marks the dedication of the new Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg. A brewery accident injures four in the upper story, no serious harm. T M Gibson lists goods in an unusual ad. City Treasurer to sell nonpaid tax property for 1865 and 1866 in the Third Ward. Local strike affects Coopers. workers hopeful for terms. Louis Kern moves to Cincinnati. Tibbetts returns from Maine. Ice production to serve Southern market. Illinois emigrants report employment. Quarterly meeting set for May 18 at M E Church Pleasant View. lawyer Holman Haynes to present suits of respect.
Friday morning Julius Churchill of Spartan Township committed suicide. in poor health, respected citizen, funeral at Free Will Baptist Church. Also recounts a boy nearly injured by a wagon wheel, critique of child-rearing, note on a planned Staring Brigade regiment, and James Proctor's gradual decline.
Wilmington notes a well attended picnic held in a grove on Capt. E. Chisman’s farm despite poor weather. The town reports local news including Hogan township Democrats naming delegates Leonard Spicknall Wid Kerr and Jonathan W. Bruce to the county convention. Mrs. Angie Givan injured in a fall is recovering. A burglary incident at James Bruce’s home prompted a cautious withdrawal. Also cited are local bird observations and a quip about changing habits plus an advertisement for Wirr’s Ague Pills claiming cure for chills and fever with guaranteed results.
