Baltimore Tow Boat Boats Tow Six Barges to New Orleans
The Baltimore ported last Tuesday for New Orleans to tow six hay barges between here and Madison. Captain Younker has towed 26 hay barges to New Orleans this year with no accidents. The Sampson left for Pittsburg with five barges carrying 14 000 coal oil barrels for Messia WE Gibson Co. The Republic built at Pittsburg passed down, taking on 600 bales of hay. The mail boat damaged the wharf boat but repaired by Sparks. Tom Taylor towed 280 tons of hay toward New Orleans next week. Cairo correspondent notes Ohio River higher than 1832 above Paducah, river now wide and rising toward Cairo.

A daughter of Isaac Bruce married John Helm of Ohio county, with Musgrave officiating. John Canfield found a horse with a broken leg, possibly rifle-shot. Rumor says a metaled pike between Wilmington and Aurora may exist, but travelers doubt it.

A dispatch reports Francis Riddell died in St Louis after an earlier bout with internal bleeding that left him unconscious in Lawrenceburg. David Guard died Monday morning and was buried Tuesday with a large procession of relatives and friends.
