Aurelia Womens Club will gather at the Shelter House tomorrow for a 1 15 p m potluck luncheon. The program titled The Road Ahead will be led by Mrs Raymond Nelson.
A 7:00 o clock celebration at Speelman's Steak House Cher kee honors Mr. and Mrs. John C. Peterson on their silver wedding anniversary. Daughters and relatives sent bouquets and corsages while their daughter Tom Whitney read a personal tribute. Guests from Ames Denver Lemars Storm Lake Schaller Aurelia and Sutherland joined in the social evening and gifts. Past Chiefs club to meet Sept 18 with Mrs Albert Stutz.
Formal consecration of the new educational wing at St Pauls Methodist Church in Cherokee is set for Sunday September 16. Dr J E Feller a former pastor will speak at 830 and 1030 a m worship services. Bishop F Gerald Ensley will give the consecration address at 330 p m with District Sept Dr Charles E Mason also taking part. A tour of the building will follow.
An open house will be held with refreshments provided by the WSCS. Evening hours are 7:30 to 9:30, inviting attendees to tour and participate in light refreshments.
The annual appeal for funds to operate the Towa Children’s Home Society has begun with mailing letters to local residents. The non-sectarian program cares for needy children in Towa, has served 24,000 Iowa children in 4 years, and typically oversees about 300 children. It also serves unwed parents and acts as an accredited adoption agency. Contributions should be mailed to Mrs. Lyle Whiting, Aurelia, local drive chairman.
A Sitb Tos muskie won the annual International Muskie contest sponsored by Ostroms Sport Shop of Minneapolis. The 3 day event near Nestor Falls Ontario on Lake of the Woods yielded 73 muskies with 33 kept and 1st released. A total of 70 northerns were caught the largest tipping the scale at 19 pounds. Half the northerns were released to mature longer.
