Clyde Beatty leading his circus returns to Cherokee under Kiwanis sponsorship with Prince the tiger-killing lion in the act. The show will be at the Plowing Match grounds with 3 PM and 8 PM performances, amid careful monitoring of the dangerous animal.
Aurelia Temple No 72 Pythian Sisters met with strong attendance led by MEC Mrs Ladell Rapp. They voted donations to Boy Scouts and Swimming Pool fund and welcomed District No 1 events at Cherokee on Sept 13. Mrs Grienke named District Deputy Grand Chief and Grand Guard. birthday luncheon followed. Aston 4 H club met August 11 with Loren Hanson reporting on Piowing Match.
Pingel demonstrated tie tying. Jimmy Smith joined the club as entertainment and lunch followed. The next meeting is at Eddie and Floyd Smith home. Garden club meets at Mrs George Johnson’s home Monday. Executive board meets Thursday at 2 30 in the Congregational church basement. Rebekah lodge Open House honored Mrs Nelie McCarty on her SSth birthday with gifts from several local groups. Card club picnic hosted at Aurelia Shelter House with Engdahl and family members attending.
The Dahl and family join Mr and Mrs Albert Swanson and family Mr and Mrs Leonard Swanson and family and Mr and Mrs Verner Johnson and family for a 1 o'clock potluck at the Aurelia Shelter House tomorrow. The women’s club meeting will be guest day for the club.
Archie BR Nelson and Joe G Nelson of Nelson and Nelson Lawyers operate offices in Cherokee and Aurelia with weekly Aurelia hours. The Aurelia office is open every Wednesday.
