The Aurelia centennial horse show drew a large crowd with Northwest Iowa Trail Riders participation. Judge Ted Forney of Sioux City announced winners including Ebb Thompson Pomeroy Grace Madson Webb and Darald Madson Webb across events such as fine harness, matched pairs, trick horse, pony race, western class, musical chairs, three gaited, adult musical chair, palomino, five gaited, and hands and seat.

Aurelia held a two day Centennial Celebration and Farmers Picnic with the American Legion and Auxiliary leading the centennial program and the Aurelia Commercial Club sponsoring the picnic. The event featured a mile long parade, horse show, mass band concert, street sports, magic acts, baseball game, and dances, drawing record crowds and praise for the window displays and community cooperation.

Eating quality varied little, but cooking thawed meat saved time and reduced weight loss versus cooking from frozen with similar overall losses across methods.

The Aurelia Consolidated School opened with 455 pupils under Supt Lloyd Godfrey. Total enrollment this year is up 80 from last year as kindergarten and rural students boost the count. high school drops 18 while junior high climbs 22.
