Local residents and families are noted visiting relatives in Aurelia Hartley and Cherokee while others travel to Ames Des Moines and Chicago for medical care jobs and weddings. A memorial plaque funds Jeradine Mummert’s grave and Mayo Clinic treatment for Mrs Mummert is mentioned along with multiple road trips and social visits across Iowa and nearby states.
Mr and Mrs Lee Ware of Colorado former Afton residents visit their daughter Mrs Bob Jackson and other relatives. Mr and Mrs Herbert Mason and family of Calumet were guests in Roy Mason’s home. Mrs Frank Mummert had a serious operation in Rochester Minnesota and is recovering well. George Loucks of Waterloo was a recent guest. Several locals attended Lay er Day picnic at Sutherland and the Pilot Rock Plowing Match near Cherokee. 4 H girls and leaders netted a profit from the Aurelia picnic food stand. Paul Jones and wife moved to Spencer for an assistant coaching position.
The American Legion Auxiliary met in the Auxiliary room Tuesday afternoon September 2. Mrs. Clifford Coombs presided. Mrs. Ruby Carlson was installed secretary to replace Mrs. Emily Vort who is leaving town. Mrs. Myra Keeghley was installed sergeant at arms. Lunch served by Mrs. Walter Matzdorff, Mrs. John Holderness and Mrs. Tracy Porter. California guest complimented at dinner party.
Rockford residents visited relatives in Afton and near Aurelia from Saturday to Monday. John Clover Gladys Menefee and Mrs Menefee returned to Angus Minnesota after a McKinley Menefee visit. Dr Fee of Denver visited Jas Fee as a guest.
An instrument purporting to be the last will of Wilson Bowers filed for probate. The hearing is set for the 380th day of September 1941 at 10:00 A M in Cherokee Iowa before the District Court or Clerk. All interested persons must appear and show cause why the will should not be probated.

Conference set for September 23 at Motherville pledges due by September 10.
Vernon V. White pastorled Mt Olive Baptist Church invites worshippers to Sunday school at ten and morning worship at eleven with evening preaching at eight. Special meetings with Rev Siemens of Spencer conclude Friday September 5. Frank Wieland of Heron Lake visited last weekend. visitors welcome.
