Ida county poultry raisers vote to hold the Ida County Poultry Show in Galva on December 4 5 and 6. Local incidents include deaths fines and local news from Peterson Sutherland Storm Lake and Holstein with community events and policing measures noted.
Aurelia edges Marcus 22 to 0 after a passing driven assault. Scott intercepts four Marcus passes and Bates, Wills, and Erickson contribute receivers and scores as Aurelia dominates on both sides of the ball. Kingsley visits next Friday at 3:30 p.m.

The Illinois Central Railway cuts one Aurelia based section crew to reduce expenses. Foreman Andrew Herold, with 27 years as foreman and six as a worker, leaves. John Grashott’s crew will maintain the area from one and a half miles east to six and a half miles west. Grashott, foreman for 30 years, has applied for retirement and may take over as foreman if Herold retires.
With Dale Jenness of Silver township first to enroll for the 1930 1931 Baby Beef club, others from John Feil and Melburn Drefke also sign up. Eligible juniors born after January 1 1921 may join. calves are fed to finished beef by show at Pilot Rock Plowing Match.
Alta voters approve Sunday movies in a advisory referendum 298 for 278 against with 579 total, the largest turnout on any town proposition. The Alta council will decide whether to observe the result and repeal Sunday movie prohibitions in the ordinances.
Farm Bureau Exchange announces an all day program on poultry marketing at Cherokee on November 21. Iowa Extension Service agent Mr. Termohlen will discuss insights from the London Poultry Conference. State Department of Agriculture cooperates on the event.
The Aurelia Community Club will hold its opening meeting Friday evening at 8:00 in the club rooms. After the business session a social hour follows with cards and billiards. Oyster stews will be served at the close, and members are urged to attend and bring a friend.

Earl Lb. Yocum, president of the Farmers National Bank of Galva and Aurelia, was seized by abductors last Saturday and held for ransom. A telegram confirms he is safe at home. Mrs Yocum initially kept details private, then disclosed the ransom note contents while authorities continued inquiries. Bar L. Yoeum leads banks in Aurelia and Galva and inherits the family estate.
Sheriff Dahlquist located eight stolen suits at the Julius Huss home in Holstein tied to a Foley Clothing Co. theft in Manson. George Tuss was arrested in Sioux City, Eddie Huss escaped custody, others questioned and released, with more arrests possible.
At a noonday gathering the business men voted to hold luncheons twice monthly instead of weekly and to call special meetings in emergencies. The first bimonthly luncheon will be next Monday November 8. Officers will work with an executive committee including Lars P Nelson Paul Schoening and E C Lighter. The Community building committee remains with Nelson Schoening and Lighter. J C Eding was authorized to book the Wizard Company for December 17 and 18.
The morning service includes Sunday School at 10:00 and a 11:00 sermon on Four Pillars of Christianity with special music. Evening service at 7:80 features a song service and Miss Eddy sharing abroad experiences and the Passion Play. Ladies from Aurelia attend the ninth district Pythian Sisters convention at Yale Iowa.
A. W. Kindwall of Alta reported the first known sale of mustard seed in any quantity last week. He harvested about 20 acres thought to be flax, but most of the crop proved to be mustard. He saved and shipped 24 tons of mustard seed to Minneapolis for $8,825, while 284 bushels of flax yielded $611.81, about 80.59 per acre.
Rev W H Welch was chosen as scoutmaster for the Loyal Boy Scout Troop at a Legion Hall meeting. He brings prior scouting experience and will be assisted by Rev Edwin Trigg as assistant scoutmaster. A yearlong committee was appointed and officers elected: Rev Edwin Trice chairman, J C Lighter secretary, John Holderness treasurer.
Local reminiscences recall aging resident M S Booghly who died at his son C G Boghley’s home at age 90. A high school football win 15 to 6 is noted alongside several community moves and farm building projects across Aurelia and area.
The Congregational Church led by Pastor Edwin Trigg announces Sunday services on November 2. Sunday school at 10 am, sermon at 11, communion service, and Christian Endeavor at 7 pm.
