Mr and Mrs Lorenz Roth hosted dinner and luncheon at the Jerold VanHooser home in Le Mars. Clinton visitors Mr and Mrs Robert Runnels joined Ms Runnels and Mrs Custis for a sorority dinner in Storm Lake. Additional visits included Des Moines, Minneapolis and Taiwan linked Army family movements and plans to relocate to Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka.
Mr Gaudian of Paullina hosts a birthday gathering. Mrs Sauter and Mrs Parrott travel to Osceola and Des Moines visiting relatives, then stop in Rowan on return. Jo Ann Ramsey visits from Rock Island with family stays in Otto home. The Ramseys, Hustedts, and Jones Volkert attend Ames Parents Day and the Iowa State Colorado game. Royce Steffens visits Don Steffens family in Waukon.
Cherokee Zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League held its fall rally at St John’s Paulina on September 23 with 156 in attendance. Rev. Clarence Pannier of Sac City spoke on Lord Teach Us To Pray and Doris Garrs contributed as Zone Christian Growth Chairman. Afternoon presentation by Margaret Maffin featured Rosebud Indians slides noting 90 percent unemployment on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.
Lina was elected Vice-president and Mrs Delmar Drefke Peace Marcus was chosen Secretary. The interim leadership names indicate a formal slate for organizational governance.
A shower by mail is planned for Mrs. Brad Johnson now residing in California. The committee invites greetings and monetary gifts to help the couple furnish their new home, addressed to Mrs Bradley Johnson 1413 5th St Alameda California 94501.
