Elk Township Homemakers will meet with Mrs Albert Stief on Tuesday October 9 at 1 30 p m. Mr and Mrs Leonard Swanson entertained their card club Saturday night with a dessert lunch provided.
Pal Club met with Mrs. Carol Fredricks on Friday September 28 with eight members and one guest Mrs. John Kudrle. 500 was played at two tables won by Mrs. Duane Perry. Albert Swanson won a traveling prize. Lunch followed. next meeting October 19 with Mrs. Duane Perry. Mrs. Herbert Rasmussen hosted a birthday party for Lisa Rasmussen with twelve children and mothers. A bridal shower for Miss Janet Anderson at the Afton Community Building drew 100 guests with readings by Mrs. Wayne Tigges. Hostesses included numerous local women. aqua and gold decor and mint favors completed the celebration.
The Bride to be Miss Anderson will marry Jim Nielsen on October 14. At a pre nuptial gathering, the bride, her mother Mrs Merlin Resene and the groom’s mother Mrs Earl Nielsen received corsages. Miss Anderson opened gifts with assistance from Miss Sharon Resene Pat Nielsen Wanda Resene and Joan Nielsen. The Friendship club met with Mrs Quentin Anderson on September 26 with twenty two members and four guests. Mrs Adrian Hansbruch presided and handed out Pollyanna gifts. Supper guests later included Mr and Mrs Ernest Hustedt.
Mr and Mrs Aivein Hustedt of Galva Mrs Mary Anderson and Mr and Mrs Leland Anderson and family marked Leland Andersons birthday with a gathering. Mr and Mrs Eric Gustafson hosted a 630 dinner Sunday guests included Mr and Mrs Harlan Moen Mr and Mrs Emil Lunsgard Mr and Mrs Albert Peterson Mr and Mrs Al Swanson Mrs Anna Anderson Ruby Johnson all of Cherokee Mr and Mrs Lars Mark and Mr and Mrs Merle Anderson of Aurelia.
The Aurelia Science Club held its first meeting on September 25 at 7 30 p m New business included officer elections with President Ann Estes Vice President Jack Christensen Secretary Linda Corrington and Treasurer listed as officers.
Bruce Jones, Bruce Rapp, and Reporter Ron Jones note many ideas for upcoming events including speakers for meetings, a Science Fair, and tours. The next meeting is October 17 at 7 30 in the Sci Room. Dues are 50 cents per person and due by the next meeting.
We thank relatives and friends for the many wonderful things done for us during our recent sorrow. For the beautiful service, floral offerings, me and support provided by neighbors and the community.
