Des Moines reports a dynamic special session of the 45th General Assembly with new tax bills. Aims include an income tax, corporation tax, and a 2 percent gross receipts sales tax. Bills seek to cut property taxes and raise state revenue amid economic crisis, with executive sessions possible to manage business.
First grade honors list six weeks ending with Galen Gilbert Ruby Graeme and Filmore Nelson. Honor roll requires 2.3 average and no donor failure. Betty Grienke honorable mention. Week highlights include songs from Rust college visitors and a Thanksgiving focus. No school Thursday and Friday.
Rupture expert H L Hoffman, longtime Redlich associate, will demonstrate his "Perfect Retention Shields" in Cherokee at the Lewis Hotel on December 14 from 10 A M to 4 P M. He cites dangers of protruding ruptures and warns against enlarging openings with trusses, urging in person attendance and noting many local testimonials.
